The Four Stages of File Growth – Part 1
In my quest to better understand the inter-working of how NTFS stores information on disk, I have been researching what happens to a file as it grows in size and complexity. The reason I’m after this knowledge is so I can better troubleshoot certain storage issues.

Windows Server 2008: Windows also rises
We suppose it happens in families too, where one twin seems charmed from the start while the other lives under a shadow. Certainly that’s the case with Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, the one almost universally heralded and the other widely snubbed. Still, isn’t it odd? For this month, I’m attempting to put together the absolute simplest configuration possible using the poorest-possible hardware for constructing a Hyper-V cluster. My goal with this experiment is to explain how easy it [...]

Microsoft Keeps Netbooks Small And Weak
Dave Methvin: Although this doesn’t seem to have been a great holiday season for technology in general, I suspect that netbooks will be a bright spot for computer makers. Tiny notebook PCs like the Asus Eee PC, Acer Aspire One, Dell Inspiron Mini 9, and HP Mini 1000 are attracting a lot of attention.

Visio Conference presentation on upcoming version of Visio
In February this year, we held a Visio Conference at which we started to reveal some of the features in the upcoming version of Visio. There are a lot of presentations up at the main conference site, but I did two presentations that were specific to the new version. There is a lot of exciting [...]
