What software is good to manage the heat intake on my laptop? For when im playing game and it starts to heat up, what a good software that will tell me the temprature of the laptop in there?

My DVD±RW write speeds are locked at minimum.Why?
I own an external DVD±RW drive (Teac DV W58G) with the latest official firmware (H4S4). I went to do some backups using Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 and I could only write at 2x, when I am at the burn window, the drop-down only allows me to burn at 2x and no other speed is listed.
