Hello over the past few days or so I have been considering buying and building a gaming rig. With so many great pc games coming out I have been pondering wether I should buy a rig or not, among other things. Right now I have a Mac Laptop, specifically for work/school, so gaming on that is out of the question. I have a xbox360, but when it comes to games like Left 4 Dead and CoD5 the 360 just doesn’t compare to a PC when it comes to online capabilities.
Last time I built my own rig, years and years ago, it ended up horribly (i was also real new to computers.) So I am somewhat hesistent to buy and build myself, but after seeing the "Recoommended Compter Parts Guide 2" and reading some of the other topics here I have some hope.
Getting to the point, sorry, I was looking at the high end build in the Guide,
Quote:
HIGH-END:
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 ($120)
Motherboard: ASUS P5Q Pro ($140)
Video: SAPPHIRE 100242L Radeon HD 4850 ($160)
RAM: G.SKILL 4GB DDR2 800 ($80)
PSU: CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W($100)
Optical: LITE-ON Black SATA ($24)
HDD: Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB ($84)
Case: Antec Nine Hundred ($120) or Thermaltake Armor Series VA8000BWS ($120)
TOTAL: $828

This fills a lot of the requirements I was setting. My first question is (and this is me reassuring myself) the Video card listed is no longer available on newegg.com I was wondering if this product: "SAPPHIRE 100244L Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFire Supported Video Card"

are one in the same?
My next question is, am I over shooting? I am not real accustomed to overclocking or modifying my rig past it’s capabilities, should I look at some of the other options?
Sorry if this is asking to much, for some reason when it comes to my own PC I just turn into a nervous wreck.
