Quantum Fireball CR won’t let my puter boot

I got hold of a Quantum Fireball CR hdd from an old tower. I hooked it up and when my machine boots, I get the "something happened" screen asking me whether or not to start normally or in safe mode. Either way it will reboot and do the same thing, and won’t even boot to safe mode? I had it on the sec ide slot in master, no go, I had it on the pri, no go, I jumped it to slave trying each ide slot, no go. It just starts to boot then goes to the boo boo page and whacks out the clock by 3 or 4 hours? At the very least I should be able to boot into my os and it should show this drive as an addition drive for data.

Any suggestions?
