nVidia to license SLI for Intel chipsets
Source
Interesting decision. If this expands to anything but X58 (meaning P55 etc), and if nVidia’s chipsets continue being terrible, this could be quite the coup. As of now, you can do Crossfire with an Intel motherboard, but not SLI, because SLI requires a bridging chip that nobody else can license.
This might doom nVidia’s chipset business, but remember that the high end enthusiast market is better off using a GTX 280 or other SLI solution than Crossfire because of microstutter problems on ATI’s stuff. With nVidia becoming more competitive by the day, do you think this will help or hurt their overall sales?
