Black Screen startup

Hi, I recently installed DesktopX a Stardock application, which I didn’t find to my liking so I uninstalled it… ever since, each time I start up my pc the following happens:

  1. normal boot up
  2. sign in to my account
    • my normal desktop background is gone
    • its now a black background
    • my documents window appears
    • NOTHING else happens… no taskbar… pressing windows logo key doesn’t bring up menu… no nothing

What I have to do to fix this, is to:

  1. bring up the task manager (thru ctrl+alt+delete)
  2. choose to run a new task ”explorer.exe”
  3. TADA…

just THEN do I get a normal boot of my desktop, applications, taskbar, etc…

I used spybot to check which applications ran when i started my system, none that I didn’t have before… Should I scan my system for viruses or something? This really pisses me off, starting my system and having to do a whole drill to make it start correctly.
